Driving a car out of Nuwara Eliya
A car makes the early start to Horton Plains, about 20 km out, more comfortable — worth it if you're aiming for World's End at sunrise, since the road climbs steadily through tea country.
Ramboda Falls, roughly 25 km toward Kandy, and the run down to Ella, about 59 km south, are both well-used, paved routes — straightforward in a car, with air conditioning welcome even in Nuwara Eliya's cooler climate on the ride down.

- Which car model should I pick?
- The Alto K10 is enough for two people and light bags. Packing warmer layers for the cooler climate, or travelling as a family for the Horton Plains sunrise run, the Wagon R or Aqua carry more, and the Prius is the roomiest of the four.
- Is this self-drive, or can I hire a driver too?
- Self-drive is the default — you get the keys, and we handle your Sri Lankan necessary paperwork before you arrive. If you'd rather not drive yourself, a chauffeur option is available on all four models, with the rate quoted per trip on WhatsApp.
- Is the road up to Nuwara Eliya difficult in a car?
- It climbs steadily through tea country with plenty of bends, but it's a well-used, paved road — comfortable in a car. Give yourself extra time on the way up.
