Driving a car out of Tangalle
Tangalle is the natural point to swap to a car if you're continuing east toward Yala — the roads open up and stay quiet, a comfortable long-distance drive rather than the tighter driving further north.
Rekawa's turtle beach, about fifteen kilometres east, is worth the after-dark drive — a car is the easiest way to do it comfortably, with headlights for the unlit coast road and space to bring the whole group.

- Which car model should I pick?
- The Alto K10 is enough for two people and light bags. Continuing on toward Yala or bringing the whole group for the turtle beach run, the Wagon R or Aqua carry more, and the Prius is the roomiest of the four.
- Is this self-drive, or can I hire a driver too?
- Self-drive is the default — you get the keys, and we handle your Sri Lankan necessary paperwork before you arrive. If you'd rather not drive yourself, a chauffeur option is available on all four models, with the rate quoted per trip on WhatsApp.
- Is a car necessary for Tangalle itself?
- Not for the beach and town centre — it's small and walkable. A car makes more sense if you're covering the longer distance from Galle or continuing on toward Yala.
- Can I return the car somewhere other than Tangalle?
- Yes. Plenty of guests pick up in Galle and finish in Tangalle, or continue on toward Yala. Tell us where you expect to end up and we will arrange collection.
