Riding a scooter out of Tangalle
Quieter roads than closer to Galle make Tangalle an easy place to get comfortable on a scooter — less traffic to contend with, and Rekawa's turtle beach or Dickwella's blowhole are both short, straightforward rides.
Hiriketiya's horseshoe bay is about eighteen kilometres along the coast road past Dickwella — a genuinely quiet ride most of the way, worth the trip if you want a different beach for the day. Traffic this far south is noticeably lighter than closer to Galle, so it's a relaxed stretch to ride even at a gentle pace, with plenty of places to stop for a swim along the way.
