Tangalle's roads are quieter than anywhere closer to Galle — long, mostly empty stretches of coast road rather than the busier towns further north. A tuk tuk suits the unhurried pace, with a roof for the stronger sun this far south and room for the extra layer once evening cools things down.
Rekawa's turtle nesting beach is a genuine after-dark trip, about fifteen kilometres east — plan to leave in daylight and return once it's properly dark, since the coast road here has fewer streetlights than you'll find further north.
