Riding a motorbike out of Unawatuna
The coast road south of Unawatuna toward Koggala and Ahangama is where the motorbike's extra power over a scooter starts to matter, especially if you're covering distance rather than staying local. Not ridden on the left before? The traffic takes more adjusting to than the bike itself.
Expect mixed traffic outside town — buses, tuk tuks, other motorbikes, and the occasional dog or cow, often with no painted lane markings. Most riders settle in after the first few minutes.
