Riding a motorbike out of Ella

The extra power matters more here than on the flat coast roads — Diyaluma Falls and Haputale both involve a proper climb, and a 150cc handles the gradient with less strain than a scooter. Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam's Peak, both under five kilometres, are easy either way.

Ella sits at the top of the hill-country climb from the south coast, so if you're riding up to start here rather than beginning fresh, expect switchbacks and a noticeably cooler finish than wherever you set off from.
