Driving a tuk tuk out of Ella
Ella town itself is small and walkable, but a tuk tuk earns its keep getting out to the viewpoints — Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam's Peak are both under five kilometres, easy short hops rather than a full excursion. The bridge is famous for the trains that cross it a few times a day; time it right and you'll catch one from below.
The climb up from the coast has more bends and gradient than a tuk tuk sees on the south coast roads, so if you're riding up rather than starting fresh in Ella, budget extra time and expect a slower pace on the switchbacks than the flat coast road.
