Riding a motorbike out of Mirissa
Mirissa itself is small enough that a scooter would do it, but a 150cc gives you more comfortable margin if you're planning to keep going past Matara — the coast road stays flat and well paved, so it's an easy stretch to open up on rather than technical riding.
The harbour road can get narrow and busy early in the morning when the whale-watching boats are loading — go slow through that stretch, it clears up fast once you're past it. Beyond town the coast road is scenic rather than technical — coconut palms and sea views most of the way, easy riding to enjoy rather than rush, with fuel stops easy to find whichever direction you head.
