Riding a scooter out of Mirissa

A scooter is the easy way to get to the Coconut Tree Hill trailhead and back without waiting on a tuk tuk or tour van — park at the bottom and it's a short walk up from there. The same goes for the harbour if you're heading down for an early whale-watching boat.

Weligama is a flat four-kilometre ride up the coast road, close enough that plenty of guests base themselves in Mirissa and ride over for the surf at Weligama Bay rather than switching hotels. Parking is easy at both ends, right on the beach road, and the road itself has no notable hills to worry about.

The bike was near new, loved that the petrol cap wasn't under the seat so i could get it filled up whilst still sitting. Dropping off was just as easy and was given a ride back to my hotel.
