Driving a car out of Sigiriya
Air conditioning is worth having in the cultural triangle's flat, open heat, and a car makes the full loop out to Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, and Anuradhapura comfortable in a single day if that's the plan — sights that are more of a stretch to combine on two wheels.
The road south to Kandy is a well-paved, straightforward climb in a car, and a locked boot is useful if you're carrying camera gear or anything picked up from Dambulla's market on the way back through.

- Which car model should I pick?
- The Alto K10 suits two people and light bags. Covering the full cultural triangle loop — Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, and Anuradhapura — with more luggage, the Wagon R or Aqua fit more comfortably, and the Prius is the roomiest choice.
- Is this self-drive, or can I hire a driver too?
- Self-drive is the default — you get the keys, and we handle your Sri Lankan necessary paperwork before you arrive. If you'd rather not drive yourself, a chauffeur option is available on all four models, with the rate quoted per trip on WhatsApp.
- Is the cultural triangle loop easy in a car?
- Yes, it's a well-paved, straightforward drive between Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, and Anuradhapura. The road south to Kandy has more winding sections.
- Can I return the car somewhere other than Sigiriya?
- Yes. Many guests pair this with Kandy or the hill country further south. Tell us your plans and we'll arrange collection.
