Driving a car out of Weligama
Weligama's beach road and the surf-school strip are easy walking, so a car isn't essential inside town — it's more useful for the run to Matara's old fort or back toward Galle, both a comfortable half-hour or so away.
Parking near the bay can get tight in the middle of the day when the surf schools are busiest — arriving early or late avoids the squeeze.

- Which car model should I pick?
- The Alto K10 suits two people with light bags. Bringing surf gear or more luggage for the coast beyond the bay, the Wagon R or Aqua carry more comfortably, and the Prius is the roomiest of the four.
- Is this self-drive, or can I hire a driver too?
- Self-drive is the default — you get the keys, and we handle your Sri Lankan necessary paperwork before you arrive. If you'd rather not drive yourself, a chauffeur option is available on all four models, with the rate quoted per trip on WhatsApp.
- Is a car necessary for Weligama itself?
- Not really for the bay and town — it's walkable, and a scooter or tuk tuk is easier to park. A car makes more sense once you're covering longer distances along the coast.
- Can I return the car somewhere other than Weligama?
- Yes. Plenty of guests finish in Galle, Mirissa, or further along the coast. Tell us where you expect to end up and we will arrange collection.
