Riding a motorbike out of Weligama
Weligama's own roads are flat and don't ask much of a 150cc, but the extra power is useful once you're covering the longer stretch toward Matara or back up toward Galle rather than staying local to the bay — the same engine that feels like overkill in town earns its keep on the open road.
The beach road can get busy with surf-school traffic and beginners on rented boards mid-morning — easy riding, just go steady through that stretch rather than rushing. Once you're past the bay, the road opens up and stays flat most of the way to Mirissa or Galle, comfortable riding either direction with plenty of places to stop along the way for a swim or a coffee.
