About the Honda Vezel
The Vezel is NOHA's crossover: a 1,496 cc hybrid SUV with a higher ride height than the Aqua, Insight or Grace, and a boot that trades a little space for a commanding view of the road. It suits travellers who want an SUV driving position and hybrid fuel economy together, without moving up to the Prius's size.

Step up to the Prius if you need the biggest boot and the most settled ride for four adults on long highway runs. Drop to the Aqua or Insight for the same hybrid economy in a smaller-bodied car with a lower deposit, or the Grace for a sedan body at the same deposit.

The Vezel is automatic only. Depending on the variant available for your dates it is a CVT or Honda's 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) hybrid transmission — tell us if you have a preference and we will confirm what's in the yard.

Refundable deposit

The refundable deposit is taken when you collect the vehicle, by cash, card, Google Pay, Apple Pay, or a payment link we send on WhatsApp, in USD, EUR, GBP, or LKR. Card deposits are charged rather than held, and refunded within two weeks of your rental ending.
If your card is issued in EUR or GBP, your bank converts twice and the refund can come back slightly under what you paid. Paying the deposit in cash avoids this.
The paperwork you’ll need to drive
Your home licence is not enough on its own, and neither is an International Driving Permit by itself. Sri Lanka has two issuers, and they differ in fee, validity, and which vehicles they cover.

Department of Motor TrafficIf you have an International Driving Permit, the AAC permit is the better choice. It costs less, lasts six months instead of one, and covers every vehicle including tuk tuks. If you arrived without an IDP, use the DMT counter at the airport. It is open 24 hours and you can collect it on the way out.

* Unlimited mileage applies to every NOHA car model except the Nissan Magnite, Honda Grace and Toyota Prius, which are capped at 150 km per rental day, calculated over the whole rental period, regardless of rental length. See our terms and conditions for details.
Why self-drive, and why the paperwork matters
The Vezel's higher ride height is what makes it worth driving yourself: a clearer view over tuk-tuk and bus traffic on the coast road, and an easier step in and out at a guesthouse with an uneven driveway. It carries the same hybrid running costs as the Aqua, in a body built for the hill country as much as the coast.
Stay more than a few days, and driving yourself wins
Not because it is cheaper on paper. A hired driver’s day ends, and yours doesn’t. This rental is priced per day, with unlimited kilometres* — the rate does not move based on how far you go or what time you come back.
Nobody should rent here without the local paperwork
We have handled the paperwork for every customer across 3+ years of operation, and no customer has been turned away at that stage. An operator who waves the requirement away has likely made decisions about insurance and maintenance that you cannot see either.
Pickup and island-wide delivery
We deliver to your hotel or guesthouse and collect island-wide, arranged on WhatsApp. Airport and train station transfers are available — your Honda Vezel arrives with a full tank and the 393 L boot cleared and ready for luggage.

- Is the Honda Vezel a hybrid?
- Yes, with a 1,496 cc petrol engine and an electric motor. Non-hybrid Vezel variants exist elsewhere but NOHA's is the hybrid.
- How much luggage fits in the Honda Vezel?
- Two large suitcases plus cabin bags. For more than that, or four adults' full luggage, the Prius has the bigger boot.
- Does the Honda Vezel have air conditioning?
- Yes, standard on every NOHA car, along with full insurance, unlimited kilometres* and a driving introduction lesson.
- Can I drop the vehicle off in a different town?
- Yes. Plenty of people pick up at our base and finish in Ella or Hikkaduwa. Tell us where you expect to end up and we will arrange collection. We can move your luggage separately too, if you'd rather not bring it with you.
- What if something goes wrong on the road?
- Message us. WhatsApp support runs 365 days a year and we arrange roadside help. We have driven out with a spare wheel more than once.
